The Virtual Reality Wine Tour –first of its kind in Chile– launched by Viña Santa Carolina a year ago just earned the Tourism Merit Award presented by the Undersecretariat of Tourism and tourism agency SERNATUR in the framework of the World Tourism Day established by the World Tourism Organization celebrated in 2018 under the theme: “Tourism and the Digital Transformation.”
The VR tour is part of our Premium Tour, which consists of a guided visit through our park, colonial estate house, ground-level cellars and underground cellar –built in 1875 and declared a National Monument in 1973– and a wine tasting. The tour takes approximately one hour, including the 5-minute VR tour taken by four people at a time.
Through a VR headset, visitors immerse in an incredible 360-degree visual experience that takes them along the entire winemaking process, from harvest to bottling.
So far, some 400 people have taken the VR tour and enjoyed a unique wine tourism experience intended to “promote the appreciation, recognition and respect for our cultural heritage with a focus on the history and tradition of our winery,” explained Marketing Director Paola Korach.
World Tourism Day, celebrated every September 27 around the world, is a unique opportunity to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic values.
