Santa Carolina was recently referred to as an “iconic winery” in a report written by Michael Schachner “Chile’s Heritage Winery” and published in the prestigious American magazine Wine Enthusiast. The report focuses on the six wineries that the author describes as Chile’s largest and most prominent wineries that continue to set the pace for the industry.
Along one and a half pages, Schachner reviews the history of our winery: Its foundation by Luis Pereira who named it after his wife, Carolina Íñiguez, its winemaking experience and the awards and accolades earned throughout the years, like the gold medal at the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle, the first ever awarded to a Chilean wine, being singled out as 2015 New World Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast or being the first Chilean winery to be ranked 3rd in “The Enthusiast 100” ranking of the same magazine.
The author finally highlighted our icon wines: Luis Pereira, which he called a throwback ultrapremium Cabernet Sauvignon; Herencia, which he described as one of the best that the country produces; and VSC, which he praises for the wide range of varieties and the 93-point score its latest vintage obtained.
