Carmenère

The largest of the fine wine areas of Chile, the Rapel valley features a wide range of climatic conditions and soil types. It runs east to west, being the Cachapoal River, its constant geographical feature. Wines from these appellations have fruit from two areas: Los Lingues, closer to the Andes Range, and Pichidegua, closer to the Coastal Range. While the first one is influenced by the cool currents that descend from the mountain peaks, the second gets the influx of the river, and results in high differences between night and day temperatures. One provides structure, typicity, fruit and concentration to the blend while the other offers elegance and complexity

Reserva de Familia - Carmenère – 93 pts

Mint, chocolate, quince and tobacco on the nose. Juicy and chalky tannins unwind nicely on the palate, with a medium to full body and a lengthy, linear finish. A typical carmenere from Chile that's quite well balanced. Delicious now, but can hold.

Reserva de Familia - Carmenère – 92 pts

This medium-bodied version offers a savory base, with a saline edge to the tobacco and loam details that swirl around cassis and black raspberry flavors. Offers good density, but there's also a measure of freshness to the finish, bringing floral and red currant nuances around well-integrated tannins. Drink now through 2032. 3,500 cases made, 120 cases imported.
